An Italian-led European Union battle group is about to hold an exercise in Italy ahead of its six-month period on standby, reports Defense News.
The battle group was formed in 2007 by Italy, Hungary and Slovenia; it has since added Austria and Croatia, with Albania taking on observer status.
The group's size has increased to about 2,500 personnel, most of which are Italian.
