Italy has begun a naval mission intended to help Libya's coast guard control migrant flows, reports Reuters.
Rome announced the operation last week, saying the mission had been requested by the U.N.-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) based in Tripoli.
At first, Italy planned to send six ships into Libyan territorial waters.
