Troops from the California National Guard have just completed a month-long exercise using a new training model with a basic armor and artillery emphasis at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif., reports the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The training was less about counterinsurgency and more about traditional combat operations, said participants.
