Toure Resigns, ECOWAS Lifts Sanctions

The ousted president of Mali has officially resigned, possibly paving the way for a return to civilian leadership, reports Radio France Internationale.
Amadou Toumani Toure submitted his resignation on Sunday as part of a transition deal brokered by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Friday.
Military coup leaders who ousted Toure last month agreed that civilian rule would be restored once Toure formally resigned.
