The U.S. successfully extracted a high-level intelligence asset from Russia in 2017, reports CNN. 

The decision to launch the mission came shortly after a May 2017 meeting in which President Trump discussed classified information on Syria with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, said Trump administration officials.
