Top Iran Diplomat Resigns

The top Iran official at the State Dept. is stepping down, reports the Washington Post.
On Thursday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that Brian Hook would be departing, indicating that it was Hook's decision without providing details.
It was not immediately clear when the decision would take effect.
Hook will be succeeded by Elliott Abrams, the current special envoy for Venezuela. He will continue to hold the Venezuela file.
