The Supreme Court has ruled that the Israeli government cannot keep the bodies of slain Palestinian gunmen as bargaining chips without enacting specific legislation to do so, reports Jerusalem Post.
The court's 2-1 decision Thursday repudiated a long-standing practice, with the government holding the bodies of fighters and terrorists killed by Israeli security forces and trading them for Israelis or the remains of Israeli soldiers held by Palestinian groups.
