The Japanese government in Tokyo has sued the local government in Okinawa over its resistance to a new U.S. military base, reports Agence France-Presse.
The central government backs the building of a new U.S. Marine Corps base in Nago city as part of an effort to relocate the existing Futenma facility, which is in a more densely populated area.
