The United Kingdom Signs MoU with Lebanon for Internal Security

On Aug. 17, 2026, the U.K. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lebanon’s Ministry of Interior and Municipalities and Ministry of Defence to reinforce its security partnership.

Financed through the UK’s Integrated Security Fund, the US$22.2 million (GBP 16.3 million) initiative funds a 31-month Internal Security Assistance Program. Support is aimed at the Internal Security Forces and the Lebanese Army to improve operational capabilities for counter-terrorism operations and managing security threats.
