The U.S. Army announced on May 26, 2026, that defense contractors had demonstrated a new drone-based weapon system at Fort Rucker, Alabama, on May 20, 2026, by integrating a three-round rocket launcher onto a TRV 150 logistics drone. The TRV 150 was developed by Survice Engineering Company, while the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) was developed by BAE Systems FalconWorks.
The system combines the TRV 150 cargo drone with a launcher capable of firing APKWS laser-guided 70-mm rockets. Originally designed for resupply missions, the drone can carry payloads of up to 150 ln (68 kg). The aircraft also incorporates autonomous navigation software, encrypted communications, and a simplified control interface to reduce operator workload and improve operational efficiency.
