Eleven Malian soldiers have been killed and one has been wounded in a terrorist attack in the north of Mali, reports Agence France-Presse.
On Monday, unidentified gunmen opened fire on a security post of the national guard in the Timbuktu region, said a government statement.
Earlier accounts said 10 troops had been killed.
The attackers stole military equipment and withdrew, said a military source cited by Reuters.
