The Georgian government says that Russia has been occupying some of its territory bordering breakaway South Ossetia, reports the Agenda (Georgia).
On Friday, Russian forces illegally placed border signs near Georgia's central highway in several villages in the Gori municipality, according to Georgian officials.
The move resulted in about 1.2 miles (2 km) of territory being effectively claimed by Russia, officials said. The tactic is referred to as creeping occupation.
