The Indian navy plans to commission its newest fleet tanker on Friday, reports the Press Trust of India.
The Deepak is one of two tankers ordered under a 159 million euro (US$212 million) contract with the Italian firm Fincantieri. The second ship is due to enter service in mid-2011.
The ships can carry up to 17,900 tons of cargo, including 15,250 tons of fuel.
