Talks With Sweden In The Offing As Sofia Decides To Go With Gripen Fighters

Bulgaria's Interim Prime Minister Stefan Yanev says talks are planned with Sweden for the purchase of eight new Gripen fighter jets, reports Reuters.

Yanev announced on Wednesday that Bulgaria had decided to go with the Saab Gripen over used U.S.-made F-16s from Portugal and secondhand Eurofighter Typhoons from Italy.

A special commission to negotiate the deal, worth perhaps US$838 million, is expected to be established within a week, said Yanev.
