Canadian military officials say Taliban militants in southern Afghanistan are making more frequent use of larger improvised explosive devices (IED), reports the Canwest News Service.
NATO soldiers were the targets of 180 IED attacks between September and December 2008, up from 75 attacks during the same period in 2007, according to Canadian military statistics.
Ten soldiers were killed in those blasts, compared to three in 2007.
