The Taliban vowed to use guerrilla tactics against Western and Afghan forces after the anticipated offensive begins in Helmand province, said a group spokesman cited by Agence France-Presse.
The assault, dubbed Operation Mushtarak, is expected to begin within days and target the Taliban-controlled town of Marjah in the center of the province.
Thousands of U.S. Marines, Afghan soldiers and NATO troops have massed around the town, military officials said.
