A joint Afghan and coalition force pursued a Taliban commander believed responsible for several attacks in Afghanistan's Zabul province on Tuesday, reports NATO's International Security Assistance Force.
The wanted commander was stopped during a search operation in a vehicle west of Qalat City, said military officials.
The Taliban suspect displayed hostile intent and ignored commands, forcing the troops to kill him, said officials.
