Taliban Attacks Kandahar Base; More Than 2 Dozen Soldiers Killed

Afghan officials say a Taliban attack on a military base in southern Kandahar province has killed 26 soldiers and wounded 13, reports Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

The attack in the early hours of Wednesday hit the Karzyalay military base in Khakrez district, said a Defense Ministry spokesman.

More than 80 Taliban militants were killed, the spokesman said, as cited by AFP. Reinforcements have been sent to the scene, he said.
