The Taliban has carried out a series of coordinated attacks across Afghanistan, reports the Washington Post.
"These attacks are the beginning of the spring offensive and we had planned them for months," a Taliban spokesman told Reuters.
The attacks that began on Sunday left three civilians and eight security officials dead, according to the Afghan government.
