NATO forces say they repelled an assault on Tuesday by insurgents on the largest U.S. military base in southern Afghanistan, the Voice of America News reports.
A rocket attack on Kandahar airfield sparked an hour-long gun battle, said military officials.
At least one suicide bomber reportedly blew himself up outside the base walls. At least four other insurgents were killed, reported Agence France-Presse.
