Afghan military officials say Taliban militants have killed 11 Afghan soldiers in an ambush in Herat province, reports the BBC.
A convoy of pick-up trucks, which was part of an army logistics supply unit, was attacked Sunday in Karukh district of the province, said officials.
Six Taliban fighters were killed in the five-hour gunfight, according to a military spokesman cited by Reuters. Six soldiers were reported wounded.
