On June 10, 2026, Taiwan's Military News Agency announced that Taiwan's Fifth Combat Zone carried out its first live-fire verification of the HIMARS system outside the Jiupeng base. The exercise focused on strengthening Taiwan's ability to respond to potential cross-strait threats through rapid deployment and precision strikes.
The HIMARS system showed that it can move quickly from a hidden position to a launch site, get ready to fire, launch its rockets, and leave the area in about three minutes. The exercise proved that the system can accurately hit targets at long distances while remaining highly mobile and difficult to target.
