Syrian Jet Pilot Seeks Asylum

A Syrian fighter pilot has landed his aircraft in Jordan with the intention to defect, reports the Daily Telegraph (U.K.).
Col. Hassan Merhi al-Hamade made an emergency landing Thursday at the King Hussein air base in Mafraq, where he asked for political asylum, said a Jordanian government source.
Syria's SANA state news agency said that authorities lost contact with the MiG-21 while he was on a routine training flight near the southern borders.
