In A Switch, U.S. General To Command Joint Drills

The top U.S. commander in South Korea will head a major bilateral exercise with the South Korean military this summer, reports the Stars and Stripes.

A South Korean general was previously slated to lead the drills. The leadership shift was made after questions arose about Seoul's response capabilities following the sinking of a South Korean warship in March.

Army Gen. Walter Sharp, the U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) commander, will lead the Ulchi Freedom Guardian (UFG) exercises. ...
