The Swiss government says it is selling dozens of surplus main battle tanks to their German manufacturer, reports Armasuisse, the Swiss armaments agency.
The Swiss army has mothballed some of its fleet of Pz 87 Leopard 2 tank fleet as part of military reform programs over the last several years.
The government then approved a plan to sell 42 of the tanks to Rheinmetall Landysystem, which will use the chassis as the basis for engineering support vehicles.
