Sunshine Policy With North Deemed A Failure

An annual report from South Korea's Unification Ministry says the government's so-called Sunshine Policy toward North Korea was a failure, Reuters reports.

The peaceful engagement policy, from 1998 to 2008, involved dialogue with the North. Massive amounts of aid were also shipped to North Korea.

Former South Korean President Kim Dae-jung won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2000 for the policy.
