Federal prosecutors have charged a Pennsylvania company with defrauding the government by supplying critical metal components for submarines that failed to meet Navy specifications, reports the Virginian-Pilot (Hampton Roads, Va.).
Bristol Alloys fraudulently certified that metals critical to the subs' integrity had been heat-treated when that was not the case, according to papers filed by prosecutors in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
