The Russian navy has commissioned its newest diesel-electric submarine at the Admiralteiskiye Verfi shipyard in St. Petersburg, reports Interfax-AVN.
The St. Petersburg is the first sub of the fourth-generation Project 677 type, also known as the Lada class.
Commissioned last Saturday, the boat is the first of three in the class being built for the Russian navy, with a fourth planned, according to shipyard officials.
