St. Petersburg Shipyard To Upgrade Warships

The Algerian government has contracted with the Severnaya Verf shipyard in St. Petersburg, Russia, to upgrade two warships for the Algerian navy, reports RIA Novosti.
Under the terms of a contract signed last week, the shipbuilder will modernize a Nanuchka II-class corvette and a Koni II-class frigate, officials said.
In Algerian service, the ships are known as the Rais Hamidou and Mourad Rais classes.
Both ships have been in service since the 1980s.
