A new white paper released by the South Korean Defense Ministry says the North Korean military has bolstered its special operations forces and deployed a new battle tank, the New York Times reports.
The North's overall troop strength has remained at 1.1 million since 2008, according to Seoul's biannual report.
Pyongyang has upgraded its asymmetric warfare capabilities by boosting its special operations totals from 180,000 to 200,000, says the paper.
