The head of the U.S. Special Operations Command says he is concerned that the new counterinsurgency doctrine places too much emphasis on protecting the local population and not enough on fighting enemy forces, Defense News reports.
Speaking at a conference in Virginia, Adm. Eric Olson said that he "fears counterinsurgency has become a euphemism for nonkinetic activities."
