A South Korean rocket apparently exploded two minutes after takeoff on Thursday while trying to put a scientific satellite into orbit, Reuters reports.
The Naro-1 was launched from the Naro Space Center in Goheung, about 300 miles south of Seoul.
Technical glitches had delayed the launch for a day.
After Thursday's blastoff, mission control lost contact with the rocket at an altitude of 43.5 miles.
