Government troops have retaken a town in southern Yemen from Islamist militants, Reuters reports.
At least 20 militants and four soldiers were killed in heavy fighting Tuesday in the town of Jaar, Defense Ministry officials said.
Troops and allied local fighters then marched into the town, officials said.
Ansar al-Sharia (Partisans of Islamic Law), which has been linked to Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, had controlled Jaar for the past year.
