The U.S. Navy will commission its newest attack submarine this weekend, reports the Dept. of Defense.
On Feb. 2, the South Dakota (SSN-790) will formally enter service during a ceremony at Naval Submarine Base New London, Conn.
The sub is the 17th in the Virginia class and the seventh in the Block III configuration, noted a Pentagon release on Wednesday.
