The Philippines has called in hundreds of soldiers as part of an effort to contain the spread of bird flu, reports the Manila Bulletin.
The number of troops to be deployed has been variously reported, with 300-400 being mentioned generally.
The troops will be dispatched on Aug. 17 to areas of Pampanga province under the direction of the Dept. of Agriculture, said a military spokesman on Wednesday.
