Leonardo DRS recently announced on Aug. 11, 2026, that it expanded the combat capabilities of its fielded SGT STOUT air defense system during an official U.S. test event. Software updates to the detection and fire-control systems enabled the platform to target Group 1 and Group 2 unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).

The SGT STOUT Mission Equipment Package uses integrated sensing and cueing to protect mobile maneuver forces rather than static points. The design incorporates artificial intelligence-driven decision aids and passive detection to enable rapid deployment of updates and maintain cybersecurity standards.
