Sofia Ready To Discuss Joining U.S. Defense Shield

The Bulgarian government has indicated it will hold preliminary talks about hosting part of a U.S. missile defense system, reports the Sofia Echo.

U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria James Warlick said not long ago that Sofia could play a key role in Washington's missile defense plans.

The Bulgarian government will consult with the European Commission and the nation's Parliament before making any decision on such participation, said Prime Minister Boiko Borisov.
