The U.S. chief of naval operations says the number of ships and submarines to be deployed is expected to increase by 15 percent over the next four years, reports the Navy Times.
The high operational tempo results from decisions to forward-base more vessels to cope with a demanding mission load as well as a strategic shift to the Pacific, said Adm. Jon Greenert.
