Shield AI and Kraken Demonstrate Autonomous Maritime Teaming

On Sept. 28, 2026, Shield AI and Kraken Technology Group demonstrated two autonomous K3 SCOUT unmanned surface vessels (USVs) working together during an Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance mission in Portsmouth, U.K. The vessels used their onboard sensors to search an assigned area, identify a vessel of interest, and coordinate tracking and escort operations.

Shield AI's Hivemind software allows the vessels to process sensor information, adjust mission plans, avoid obstacles, and respond to changing conditions without following only a fixed route. The K3 SCOUT is a USV capable of speeds up to 55 knots, with a modular design that allows it to be configured for missions such as logistics, search and rescue, surveying, and reconnaissance.
