Tunisian officials say a commander of the largest Al-Qaida-affiliated group in the country has been killed in a security operation, reports Asharq Al-Awsat (London).
On Monday, Murad al-Shayeb, an Algerian, was killed in an operation in the western Kasserine province, said the interior ministry. One of his accomplices escaped.
Shayeb, 36, was a commander in the Uqba bin Nafi Battalion, which is active in the mountainous region.
