A team of Estonian specialists have started a year-long anti-piracy mission off the coast of Somalia with NATO and the European Union, reports Estonian Public Radio.
The 15-member Estonian team has been assigned to provide security for U.N. food aid ships in the Gulf of Aden and off the Somali coast. They will work in cooperation with German forces.
The Estonians are not expected to arrest suspected pirates.
The mission is scheduled to conclude at the end of 2011.
