Security Council Sets Up Force Around Disputed Abyei Region

The United Nations Security Council has voted unanimously to send 4,200 Ethiopian peacekeepers to the disputed Sudanese territory of Abyei, the BBC reports.
The mission, called the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), was established Monday for six months, reported the U.N. News Center.
The U.N.-sponsored Ethiopian force will monitor the withdrawal of northern Sudanese troops from Abyei, who occupied the region last month, said officials.
