Security Council Renews Peacekeeping Force

The U.N. Security Council has extended the mandate of a peacekeeping force in the Western Sahara, Reuters reports.
Tuesday's unanimous vote extended the mandate of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) until April 2013.
The Polisario Front and its backers, including South Africa, have pushed for years for peacekeepers to monitor alleged human-rights abuses. Morocco and France have resisted.
