NATO and the European Union are seeking to break a deadlock stemming from long-standing disagreements between Cyprus and Turkey, reports the E.U. Observer.
NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen called for the E.U. to conclude a security agreement with Turkey to help resolve the problems.
The Turkish-Cypriot issue has been blocking cooperation between the E.U. and NATO since Greek Cyprus became an E.U. member in 2004.
