The Japanese government has started work at a planned and controversial facility that will replace the U.S. Air Force Station Futenma in Okinawa, reports the Kyodo News Agency.
On Tuesday, work began on sea walls around the site. Full-fledged landfill work inside the sea walls is slated begin in the first half of 2018.
