A suicide bomber struck a crowded Kurdish restaurant in the northern city of Kirkuk, Iraq, on Thursday, the BBC reports.
At least 40 people were killed and another 85 injured, said local police, cited by United Press International.
Security in the area was tight ahead of a visit by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, a general told Deutsche Presse-Agentur.
