The U.S. Navy has announced that it will station two new littoral combat ships and the lead ship of the Zumwalt-class destroyers in San Diego, reports the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The Independence-class littoral ships Gabrielle Giffords and Omaha and the future USS Zumwalt are slated to be based in San Diego, the paper reported on Friday.
San Diego is already home to the first four littoral combat ships. As many as 10 of the vessels could eventually be based there.
