San Antonio Becomes Joint Base

The largest installation in the Dept. of Defense is set to achieve full operational capability Friday, reports the Air Force Times.

The new Joint Base San Antonio, Texas, encompasses Lackland Air Force Base, Fort Sam Houston and Randolph AFB.

The base is one of 12 mandated under the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) legislation.
