The U.S. Navy has retired another Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate, reports First Coast News (Jacksonville, Fla.).
The Samuel B. Roberts was decommissioned on Friday at Naval Station Mayport, Fla., after nearly 30 years of service.
The frigate is perhaps best known for having survived a mine strike in the Persian Gulf during the Iran-Iraq War in April 1988.
The Roberts had just finished escorting a Kuwaiti tanker when it hit the mine.
