A U.S. sailor who was presumed missing at sea but then found on the ship last month has been charged with dereliction of duty and abandoning watch, says the Navy, as reported by the Stars and Stripes.
Petty Officer 3rd Class Peter Mims was reported missing on June 8 as the USS Shiloh was conducting operations off the coast of Okinawa, Japan. A 50-hour search effort was made for the sailor involving several Japanese and U.S. ships.
